KI institutions, KI employees and distance students (with authorisation) situated outside of the KI Campuses are not able to reach KI library resources due to technical reasons.

In order to solve this problem, KIB has a proxy server. The use of this server is free for KI employees and some distance students, but requires credentials in the form of a user name and password.

Those interested in gaining access to electronic resources (e.g. journals and databases), must contact the assigned contact persons (KI employees) or teachers (KI distance students) in order to get a user name and password. The user is solely responsible should any misuse incur, i.e.  passing on credentials to another person is forbidden.

The instructions below are for the NEW proxy server at KIB. The OLD proxy server is presently working in parallel with the new one. You may find instructions for use of the old proxy server here.

1. Your credentials are personal and may not be passed on to another person. Extensive logging is performed, and if any misuse can be established the account will be blocked. If you are connecting from a public computer (e.g. in a public library), you must log out after your session by closing all browser windows or clicking Log out at http://proxy.kib.ki.se.
   



2. Open the URI http://proxy.kib.ki.se/ in your web browser. You will now receive a Security Alert. Click YES or OK to confirm that you want to proceed. You may also get a notice that you are about to connect to or leave an encrypted connection. Click YES or OK here as well.
   






 

3. Type in your user name and password in the boxes. Click Login. Please note that user names and passwords are case sensitive.
   
   

    




4. You may now choose between Library resources (databases, journals etc.) and KI Intranet (KI internal pages).
   
   

    

5. If you have choosen Library resources, the KIB start page will be opened in a new window. You can now pick any resource that you would like to enter from the list in the left-hand margin, e.g. Databases, Electronic Journals or Electronic Books.



6. In order to log out, go back to the initial login window and click Log out.
